WHY MUST I GET EDUCATED?

THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION IN MODERN WORLD.

The world is developing very fast as a result of the numerous technological advancements being undertaken by people of high intellectual abilities.
How are these intellectuals controlling the growth of the world?

Their key is EDUCATION.

EDUCATION, according to Dictionary.com is "the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgement, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life".

To ensure that nobody is left behind, we all need to adapt to these changing scenes of life, which is getting educated.

The following are a few reasons why education has become very important in modern times.

1. Increase in income.
Every institution is looking for the best brains to hire to help grow their business. These best brains are the educated citizens and not the illiterates. Getting hired because of your expertise means getting more income. The more educated one is the higher the chances of getting employed and being paid huge sums of money. It is said that " money is the root of all evil" but everybody will agree that money is important for our survival.

2. It brings peace and unity.
Education generally helps us to know the difference between right and wrong. An educated person who is aware of the laws of the state is less likely to fall, victim to the laws. On the other hand, an uneducated person who is ignorant of the laws and lives in poverty is likely to engage in illegal activities such as robbery and theft to love their problems but these acts threaten the peace and unity of the citizens.

3. Education prevents cheating.
We live in a world where people are always finding ways to cheat others. It is generally easier to cheat an illiterate than cheating a literate. An illiterate may be trapped into signing documents that may be false which can later have their rights and freedoms being deprived of unlike a literate, who can read and understand whatever is presented before them.

4. It boosts the economic growth of the whole country.
Education is very important for high economic growth and wellbeing of the nation. This is evident in countries such as the USA, China, and Japan where the literacy rate is very high. This has resulted in the fast development of these countries and the general wellbeing of their citizens whereas the economic growth of countries that have low literacy rates is low resulting in poverty among the majority of their citizens.

5. It makes you confident.
I remember when I completed Junior High School and entered Senior High School, there were a lot of students with good grades in the BECE. Those with very good grades talked confidently about their grades making it known all the time whilst those with low grades felt shy talking about their grades. Your level of education is your proof of knowledge by people. Education gives you the confidence to express your views and opinions without fear.

6. Realizing your dreams.
What is your dream in life? Do you want to be a lawyer, teacher, doctor, etc, in the future? Do you want to be popular or respected in society?
Your key to all these is getting educated. It is worth noting that some class of people such as sportsmen and musicians does not really need education to be successful and popular. However, in most cases, your educational certificate is what gets you to your dreams.

7. Education makes you self dependent.
If you want to be a self-dependent person, then it is very important to be educated. An educated person is usually financially independent and also able to make wise decisions without always relying on others.

Education kill diseases such as fear, poverty, ignorance, and superstition. Never give up your studies. Gather as many certificates now; then the well-paying jobs will come later.

Abraham Lincoln once said, "I will study and wait, and the opportunity will come"

Francis Bacon summarized the need for education in these words, "Knowledge is power".

So please, no time for playing with studies.
Do not get tired of learning!
