The school buildings and other facilities are also affected by covid-19

I visited my place of work, Adeiso Methodist Junior High School last Tuesday to see how the environment looks like since school was closed and in fact I was very unhappy.
I was unhappy not because I didn't find the pupils there but because the whole place  have been taken over by squatters and "weed smokers" who have not only littered the place but have also eased themselves all over the place even though there is a toilet facility which they themselves have destroyed the locks.

Some of the classroom blocks have being broken and the classrooms look like it's been abandoned for decades. Full of plastic bags and take-away packs, making the place look like an abandoned uncompleted building.

I would like to use this opportunity to entreat the various Education Directorates to as a matter of urgency have talks with the various stakeholders in Education so as to have the public educated on the need to protect their schools now that we fight the Coronavirus pandemic so that when school resumes, the pupils wouldn't have to work so hard to bring the school environment back to good shape.
Also the Government should as a matter of urgency initiate moves to help protect school properties especially those in the rural areas. This would help save the Government the burden of having to spend extra money on school facilities when Schools re- open.

Pls share until our schools are given the needed protection they deserve.

A worried and concerned teacher
Nana Offei Daniel.
